LTA is thrilled to be providing the first Lipedema training specifically for CLT's to be offered in Canada, through our established Specialist Lipedema Management course.

This course covers everything you need to know to be a Lipedema Specialist and work with clients who have the condition. It is a 4 module course provided by a team of leading global lipedema experts, including surgeons, doctors, specialists, nurses, dietitians, researchers, and patient advocates. The course provides the latest research and guidelines for lipedema and a comprehensive study into the condition and other fat disorders.

As with all LTA courses, this will teach both hands-on practical skills, and theory based knowledge.

This course will take you through the underlying cause, diagnostic process, assessment, differential diagnosis, staging, and treatment of lipedema and fat disorders.
You will learn a full range of treatment options, including;

• Clinical Assessment

• Surgery (pre and post operative care)

• Garment Selection, measurement & fitting

• Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)- the FG-MLD method.

• Exercise and strengthening regimes appropriate to individual needs.

• Weight Management

• Diet and Nutrition 

• Well being and Mindset

International prerequisites are being finalised. This course is generally suitable for healthcare professionals who have successfully completed and been certified in LTA training: 

• Lymphoedema Rehabilitation Programme

• Lymphoedema Management for Manual Therapists AND the additional Advanced Management for Manual Therapist

     OR

• Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) of Lymphoedema Training Academy (LTA), Klose, Vodder, ACOLS or ILWT. We accept CLT trained who are 12 months post course and working in the field

This course combines online learning and in-person training to support both knowledge and practical skill development.

The online element provides the theoretical foundation for your course. These engaging sessions include:

• A theory exam and assignment information (on relevant courses)

 

All online content is accessed through our online learner platform, where modules are clearly organised and easy to navigate. You can access your course content at any time, allowing you to revisit content as needed.

• Accessibility features, including dyslexia-friendly options

• Messaging and discussion tools to engage with other learners and contact LTA Trainers.

Support is available throughout, so no advanced technical skills are required to take part and make the most of these resources.

In-person Training

Our in-person training will put your online learning into practice. It focuses on practical clinical skills like assessment and treatment techniques, which require hands-on learning and interaction.

Practical sessions at our LTA HQ in Stafford (UK) include:

​

• A welcoming and supportive learning environment

• Well-equipped and comfortable classroom space

• Physical course materials, handouts, and resources

• A separate practical skills space with couches, equipment, and consumables for hands-on practice

• Student spaces for discussion, breaks, and networking

• Tea, coffee, refreshments (and snacks!)

• Supplier areas, product demos, samples, and patient literature

• Recently refurbished rooms with aircon, heating, large windows and bright decor.

• Coffee shop, vending machines, fridge and microwave on-site

• Free Wi-Fi and free parking

These sessions provide the opportunity to develop, refine and apply your skills under the guidance of LTA's experienced Trainers.

In-person training is an essential part of all LTA courses. We consider hands-on learning to be intrinsic to developing safe and effective clinical skills, particularly where accuracy and clinical judgement rely on practical experience, which we feel cannot be taught online alone.

​

Our in-person sessions help build your confidence in your practical skills with opportunity for hands-on practice, supported by guidance and feedback from experienced Trainers, so that you can be assured you are doing the right thing for your clients. 

We understand that assessments can feel daunting, particularly if it has been some time since you last studied. Our approach is designed to support you throughout and help you feel prepared and confident.

Assessment is integrated across the course and forms an important part of your learning. It allows you to check your understanding, receive feedback, and demonstrate that you can apply your knowledge and skills safely in practice.

To complete the course, learners will undertake a range of course-specific assessments, which may include:

​

• Practical observation exam

• Written assignment

• Online theory test

 

These are directly related to what you have been taught and are there to support your progress, not to catch you out. Our trainers will guide you throughout, ensuring you know what to expect and feel supported at each stage.

Everything you need to complete your training is included as part of your course. We provide comprehensive learning resources and ongoing support to help you get the most from your experience with us.

All resources are designed to support both your learning during the course and your continued development in clinical practice.​

The LTA Specialist Lipedema Management course carries international CPD Accreditation for 38 hours. You may be required to provide evidence of your certificate to your local CPD service for point allocation. 

Upon successful completion of the course, learners will receive a Certification of Practice in ‘Specialist Lipoedema Management’.

 

What certification means

LTA certification recognises that you have completed structured study in specialist training and met the high course standards, and the primary outcome of this training is to support safe and effective treatment for patients.

As an LTA-certified therapist, you will be able to:

• Demonstrate completion of an internationally CPD-accredited course

• Use your certification when describing your training and clinical expertise (where appropriate to your professional guidelines)

• Write LTA Lipo Cert. after your name

• Display FG-MLD Certified and LTA Cert. logo on your marketing material (as appropriate)

• Be recognised through wearing you LTA cert. qualification badge

• Practice MLD to further enhance outcomes

• Be included in the LTA international directory of lymphoedema services (where applicable)

• Access ongoing updates and developments in lymphoedema and lipedema care

• Receive continued professional support from the LTA training team

• Be invited to join a private LTA-certified practitioner community for ongoing discussion, guidance, and peer support.
