Course Summary
This course has been designed for therapists wishing to advance their knowledge and skills to include Compression garments, Multi-Component Bandaging and Specialist Oedema Management to their service offer.
Entry Requirements
This training is for therapists who have completed the 'Lymphoedema Management for Manual Therapists' training course. If you haven't completed this training, find out more about it here: Lymphoedema Management for Manual Therapists (LMMT).

Therapists will have met the entry requirements for the LMMT course, and will be continuing to develop their experience through practice and client interactions.
Learning Format
This course combines three ways of learning:

Live online sessions- interactive webinars with the course tutors and cohort.

Self-paced study- resources and activities to can work through in your own time.

In-person workshops- classroom days of hands-on clinical skills training at the Academy.

No matter how you learn best, through doing, listening, watching, discussing, or a mix of styles, this approach helps you get the most from your training.

You’ll have access to everything you need throughout the course and our Training team is always here to help, even if you’re not confident with technology.

Taught Days:
Your course days are structured to give you the best learning experience with minimal disruption to your work:

One day of live online webinars- Join in real time or catch up later with the recording.

Three consecutive days in-person workshops- So you only need to travel once and spend less time away from your clinic.

The final day includes assessment and graduation.
Assessment Criteria
How You’ll Be Assessed
Your learning will be assessed in ways that reflect real clinical practice.

Practical skills- you’ll be observed during a practical exam session as part of the in-person workshops, on the final day of your course.

Knowledge checks- short written assignments, and online tests help you consolidate what you’ve learned.

This approach ensures you’re confident and competent in both practical skills and clinical knowledge, fully meeting LTA's recognised standards and all learning outcomes.
Course Contents
This course equips you with advanced skills in lymphoedema management not covered on entry-level courses, including:

Multi-Component Bandaging (MCB)- principles and practical application.

Limb Volume Measurement- accurate assessment and monitoring techniques.

Compression Garments- selection, fitting, and measurement.
-
FG-MLD 'Fill & Flush' Techniques for- Midline, Head and Neck, and Genital oedema.

It builds on the knowledge gained on the LMMT course and further develops your skills in:

Advanced management- strategies for complex cases, including children, elderly patients, and those with comorbidities.

Risk reduction and holistic care- integrating weight management, lifestyle guidance, and evidence-based care models.

Clinical reasoning and professional practice- applying knowledge confidently in real-world scenarios.

Differential diagnosis- distinguishing lymphoedema from lipoedema, venous oedema, and other conditions.

Course Certification
Our Lymphoedema Management for Manual Therapists training course will certify you as a ‘LTA Therapist’.

Recertification
At LTA, we understand that staying current with your training is essential to your success as a therapist. That's why we offer recertification training for all of our therapists to ensure that you maintain the skills and knowledge you need to provide the best possible care for your patients.
Once you have successfully obtained your initial training certification, it is essential to attend a 2-Day Recertification training after the first 12 months, followed by a 1-Day Recertification training every 2 years to uphold your certification.
