At Leduc UK we aim to provide the highest quality Medical Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) and Complex Decongestive Therapy (CDT) training possible.

Through evidenced based practice and 15 years personal experience in the field, we provided individual attention to each student ensuring they develop to their highest potential. Training takes place in a relaxed atmosphere which is professional, friendly and open to easy learning.

Established in 2002, Leduc UK has been at the forefront of training in lymphoedema management.

Driven by Jane Wigg, the only authorised trainer of the Leduc method of Medical Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) in the UK, over 100 students have successfully completed training.

Jane had been treating lymphoedema for over 15 years and is manager of one of the largest lymphoedema services in the UK based within Compton Hospice, Wolverhampton (www.compton-hospice.org.uk).

Courses are run privately but can also be accessed through Wolverhampton University as stand alone modules or form part of a degree.

What is MLD?
MLD is ‘a very gently skin massage designed to move the skin in specific directions based on the underlying structure and physiology of the lymphatic system’ (BLS 2001). The aim of MLD is to move fluid to an area where it can freely flow.

The Leduc method of MLD is the most scientifically proven and researched based MLD available. Professor Leduc commenced his studies into the lymphatics in the 1970’s with much of his detailed MLD research taking place in the 1980’s. He has led the field demonstrating drainage routes and transfer of fluid across substitution pathways. His MLD is unique but with the original concepts based from Vodder and Foldi beliefs. Prof Leduc, although now retired from the Belgium and French universities, continues to teach in many countries across the world including on the Leduc UK courses.

Who can train?
The Leduc method of MLD is taught to all health care professional who have a degree level training or Registered General nurses. Training is suitable for Medics, Nurses, physiotherapists, radiographers, occupational therapist, osteopaths and chiropractors.
