Cost Details: £950 + VAT for Part 1 and Part 2

7 Classroom Learning days: 9.00 am to 16.30 pm

Plus 1 online training day: 9.30 am to 3 pm and 2 Clinical Practice Days: to be arranged by the therapist

The course includes free: folder and course material, writing materials, MLD equipment, complimentary lunch.  On completion of the course you will receive a Certificate of Practice.

Course Dates

Part 1: 7/8/9 November 2019 inclusive

Online Training: 11 November 2019

Total: 45 hrs + 45 hrs self-study inc 16 hrs clinical placement

Part 2: 4/5/6 December 2019 inclusive

2 Clinical Days: To be arranged following completion of Part 2 and before the exam date

Exam: 8 December 2019

Training is suitable for:

  • Complimentary/ sports/ remedial and massage Therapists or bodyworkers holding a Level 3 Diploma in their field:
  • Those with a passion to help people with a chronic condition of lymphoedema and acute and chronic swelling

Course Aims:

By the end of the course you will have a thorough understanding of the anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of the lymphatic system, enabling you to holistically assess whether your client may have  lymphoedema or chronic swelling. It will be the expectation that you work with your local Lymphoedema service to build a relationship in order to refer people to, and in return you will gain referrals for Manual Lymphatic Drainage. You will be able to design and implement an appropriate research and evidence based individualised management strategy selecting from a range of therapies and new innovations. We will also help you to develop the skills required to build a new income stream to your business and will provide business support and advice.


Course Contents:

What is lymphoedema and how can we treat it, Manual Lymphatic drainage- types and differences, Fluoroscopy Guided Manual Lymphatic Drainage (FG-MLD), Fluoroscopy in assessment of oedema, New dimensions and understanding of lymphatics, Mapping lymphatic drainage pathways, How to perform MLD after mapping, FG-MLD for the upper and lower limbs.



Successful students will receive a Certificate of Practice confirming they are fully qualified Lymphoedema Training Academy (LTA) FG-MLD therapists and contact details can be added to our Directory of Therapists  at no extra cost.  In order to maintain competence you must attend a 2 day Review 12 months after completion of the training followed by a 1 day Review every two years thereafter.
