About our training

The academy provides recognised lymphoedema training courses, but our training courses can also be taken at academic level as part of BSc or MSc of lymphoedema care or as stand alone accredited modules through Wolverhampton University at the Compton Hospice campus.

Why attend our training?

Jane Wigg is internationally known for her work in innovations and lymphoedema and presents on a global platform.  She had held training and presented in many countries including Australia, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, USA and throughout Europe  Her work within NIR fluoroscopy mapping, MLD and lymphoedema management is recognised at the highest level. Her involvement in identifying lymphatic pathways and applying this to practice is developing teaching is influencing many people lives through a cascade effect of research, education and training. Jane is honoured to have trained with Prof Belgrado, pioneer of FG-MLD ‘Fill and Flush’ technique.

Who can train?

The MLD technique is taught to all healthcare professionals with degree level training, or Registered General nurses. Training is suitable for medics, nurses, physiotherapists, radiographers, occupational therapists, osteopaths and chiropractors. LTA also trains complementary therapists/Sports Therapist/Bodyworkers with degree level training.

Support worker training

Are you a support worker, working with an LTA trained therapist?  The Lymphoedema Training Academy will train you in MLD to use within prescribed care from your lymphoedema specialist manager.  You will need to have attended a three day support worker course  to undertake this training.

Already trained in lymphoedema?

Then attend our FG-MLD only course consisting of 45 hours of MLD focused training (over 4-5 days). We provide on-site training at your own venue or premises if you have enough students (minimum of 10).
